Resumen
Liquid modernity, a term coined by Zygmunt Bauman, is a time without certainties, in constant flux. People no longer take pleasure from ingesting knowledge, hence liquid modernity envisions education as a product rather than a process. As a product, education is just another thing to be obtained. The authors of the article use Bauman’s ideas as a springboard for discussing the current state of universities and higher education in Colombia, focusing in particular on the purpose which they should serve and the social responsibility they hold. They put special emphasis on research as the force which should be driving university activities in the times of liquidity. Null.
