Vilca-Apaza H.-M.; Mamani-Mamani Y.-M.; Gutiérrez F.S. · Encuentros (Maracaibo) (2022) · DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.6551075

Resumen

The objective of the study was to know the use of social networks and its relationship with the level of academic performance in university students in the area of education in the Andean region of Perú. It corresponds to the quantitative-descriptive-correlational research approach, using the survey technique and content analysis. The theoretical framework encompasses social media and its implications for higher education. The population consisted of 325 students, of whom, by intentional non-probability sampling, 71 made up the sample. The data processing was carried out in statistical software SPSS - 22.0. The results indicate that there is a statistical relationship (r = -0.342; p = 0.004) in a negative sense between the variables studied, that is, there is a decrease in the level of academic performance the more distracting use is made of social networks, both Facebook® and WhatsApp®.
