Resumen
The WHO estimates that at least 40% of the world's population suffers from sleep disorders, which lead to behavioral disturbances such as stress, depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses. Therefore, to avoid these problems it is necessary to look for alternatives to improve the quality of sleep. Ashwagandha is attributed benefits on this, so in this article we sought to make a literature review on its multiple benefits, such as its mechanism of action, its effects on sleep induction, the neurotransmitters involved in sleep quality and how these are reflected in the encephalogram. Conclusions: The use of Ashwagandha has shown good improvement in sleep quality and could be considered as an alternative in the treatment of sleep disorders.
