Resumen
The objective of this research is to determine to what extent cognitive skills influence teaching performance in a Higher Institute of Music in Huánuco-2015. It is considered a non-experimental correlational explanatory study, with a causal correlational cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 171 students and the sample consisted of 72 students. The data collection technique was the survey; the instruments used were the questionnaire on cognitive skills and the questionnaire on teaching performance. The results obtained show that there is a positive correlation between cognitive skills and teaching performance; this relationship represents 0.995, which is a positive value, proving that a high level of cognitive skills corresponds to a good teaching performance, or a very low level of cognitive skills corresponds to a poor teaching performance. It was determined that cognitive skills have a significant influence on teaching performance; this relationship occurs in 96.4% of the cases of the sample.
