Resumen
This paper presents an exploratory study based on the testimonies of Shipiba women from the Comunidad Shipiba-Koniba de Cantagallo in Lima, with the objective of examining how, through migration and handicrafts, these women have maintained their cultural identity in a city as complex as Lima. Through a qualitative interpretative approach, this paper analyzes how the Shipiba women signify and narrate their process of adaptation, empowerment and resistance in the metropolis. The passage from their Amazonian communities to a large city poses new challenges of integration, marginalization and community recognition. Through semi-structured interviews, their experiences in Lima society, their struggle for the permanence of their community after the 2016 fire, and their strategies of empowerment and resistance are collected. The testimonies show how they have territorialized space in the city, transforming their community and economic life into a challenging urban environment.
