Resumen
Introduction: To evaluate the diagnostic effectiveness of the sentinel lymph node imprint technique in patients with breast cancer after neoadjuvant therapy at the IREN during 2019-2024. The study: A retrospective cross-sectional diagnostic test study was carried out in the northern population of Peru. The dependent variable was paraffin of the sentinel lymph node (SLN), while the independent variable was post-neoadjuvant SLN cytology. Findings: The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) of the sentinel lymph node imprint were 60%, 98.95%, 81.82% and 96.92% respectively. Furthermore, a positive likelihood ratio of 57.14 and a negative likelihood ratio of 0.40 Conclusions: Post-neoadjuvant imprint cytology is useful to confirm, but not rule out, malignancy, as it has a positive likelihood ratio greater than 10, but a negative one greater than 0.1.
