Resumen
The purpose of the study was to analyze the perceptions of importance, self-efficacy and source of learning of information competence among university students of the Physical Education study program of the National University of San Agustín of Arequipa-Peru. Therefore, the quantitative approach was used and the type of research was observational, therefore, there was no intervention in the study variables. The sample was 164 undergraduate students enrolled in the IA-2023 semester of the aforementioned program. Data accumulation was based on the survey technique, using the IL-HUMASS questionnaire with an internal consistency of 0.982. The research work took into account the ethical consideration of informed consent, being fundamental to the study process. The results show that university students consider information competence to be important, especially the category of communication and dissemination of information. Furthermore, the source of learning to acquire skills is distinguished in the class and in a self-taught manner. It is concluded that training focused on the development of information competence of students of the Physical Education study program is necessary, which requires, on the part of the corresponding authorities, relevant training plans. © (2024), (Universidad del Zulia).
