Resumen
The objective of this research was to analyze the effect of seismic pounding using the dynamic time-history method on the structural behavior of adjacent buildings. Three combinations of multi-family buildings with 5, 5, and 8 stories were evaluated, considering different structural systems with inadequate seismic joints and joints designed in accordance with the NTP E.030 standard. The study adopted a quantitative approach with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational design. Linear dynamic analysis was performed using ETABS software, employing three real seismic records from Lima (1966, 1970, and 1974) with compatible spectra. The results show maximum impact forces of up to 718 tonf, displacement variations between-26.34% and 12.67%, changes in base shear from-29.06% to 7.34%, and an increase in drift of up to 36.03%. Likewise, the torsional ratio increased by 8.6%, reaching conditions of extreme torsion. It is concluded that seismic collision significantly alters structural response, especially in configurations with insufficient joints (5 mm), where building blocking occurs. As a contribution, the study highlights the importance of proper seismic joint design to mitigate impact effects and improve structural safety.
