Role of the Gaceta Medica de Caracas in scientific production on COVID-19

Resumen

Scientific production refers to that essential activity in the progress of a country since through it new knowledge is generated, technologies are developed and solutions are provided to the problems that affect society. However, to offer responses to the health emergency caused by the pandemic, the scientific community increased its scientific production associated with this subject. Regarding the Gaceta Medica de Caracas, it played an important role at the regional and international level in scientific production, since it published 136 documents with topics related to COVID-19 from January 2020 to April 2023. The most published types of documents were original articles (57.4 %), review articles (18.4 %), editorials (7.4 %), and introductions (7.4 %). Therefore, the journal needs to continue to encourage researchers from around the world to publish the results of their studies, given its compliance with editorial standards and current indexing in high-impact databases.
