Resumen
Return migration entails a reconfiguration of family and social dynamics, affecting the experiences of men who return to their country of origin. It is essential to examine the reintegration of migrants in this process to understand the transformations in their societal gender roles. The objective was to examine how return migration affects the reconfiguration of migrant men’s gender roles. The study implemented a focused ethnographic method guided by gender theory in Veracruz (Agua Dulce), Mexico. Nine migrant men were interviewed. The data were processed through reflexive thematic analysis using Quirkos software V. 2.5.3. Three categories were identified to explain return migration: 1) factors influencing return migration, 2) impact of return migration, and 3) reintegration process. In conclusion, return migration presents both challenges and opportunities for resignifying the male role.
