Resumen
The aim of this study was to determine the frequencies of heart disease in the echocardiographic reports of canine patients who attended the Cardiology area of the Small Animal Clinic of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in the period 2013-2020. The frequency of dogs with at least one heart disease was 75.9% (1062/1400), with degenerative valve disease being the most common heart disease (93.1%). Males were 1.66 times more likely to suffer from heart disease than females, while older dogs showed a higher risk of being heart patients. Likewise, mixed-breed canines had the highest predisposition to suffer from heart disease (33.1%). © Los autores.
