Resumen
In the structural health monitoring (SHM) of buildings, accelerometers are installed on the floors of the structures to measure accelerations caused by earthquake movements. After that, the displacements response of the building is derived from the measured accelerations using a filtering process and a double integration to identify the damage level of buildings. In this sense, it is essential to properly capture lateral displacements from measurements. In this paper the displacements responses derived from the measured acceleration were analyzed through an experimental test and numerical simulations, mainly when the structure incurs in the inelastic range. It was observed that the residual displacement is not able to be captured directly from the measured acceleration, due to some corrections such as baseline are carried out in the double integrations process. In this sense, relationships between known response parameters derived from the SHM were analyzed and an equation to estimate the residual displacement was proposed. Since the masonry dwellings represent 83% in Metropolitan Lima and Callao (Diaz, 2019), the numerical models elaborated represent masonry buildings However, the procedure used to obtain the proposed equation that estimates the residual displacement can be applicable to different structural systems.
