Resumen
Objective: to determine the relationship between the position of the lower incisor and facial biotype in lateral skull x-rays. Methodology: A non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional, prospective and correlational study was designed whose sample was 129 lateral skull radiographs to evaluate the variables. Results: it was observed that 46.9% presented a normodivergent facial biotype pattern. Regarding the position of the lower incisor, it was found that the average or total mean value for II (Lower Incision) was 118.99 degrees. When evaluating the position of the lower incisor in hyperdivergent patients, a higher percentage stood out, with 12.8%, in the range of values between 2 and 7 mm. For normodivergent patients, the evaluation of the position of the lower incisor also presented significant percentages, with 32.3% and 25.2% respectively, in the same range of values between 2 and 7 mm. Furthermore, when applying the Spearman correlation statistical test to the variables of the lower incisor position and facial biotype, a Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.364 was found, indicating a moderately positive relationship between the study variables, with a value of p less than 0.05 (p=0.000). Conclusions: there is a statistically significant relationship between the position of the lower incisor and facial biotype in lateral skull radiographs.
