Resumen
The present research study examines the relationships between smartphone addiction, sleep quality, and depression among university students. The approach is quantitative, with an explanatory and cross-sectional design. The partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) is applied, which allows estimating the relationships of the proposed theoretical model. The sample consists of 245 Peruvian students. Three standardized questionnaires, validated in previous studies, and applied to university populations, are used. The results confirm statistically significant and positive relationships between the analyzed constructs. It is concluded that greater smartphone addiction is associated with poorer sleep quality and higher levels of depression, highlighting the need for interventions that promote the balanced use of these devices to preserve the psychological well-being of students.
