Resumen
Currently, adobe houses are exposed to seismic movements, as they were built traditionally without professional supervision. This involves establishing an optimal reinforcement method using uniaxial, biaxial, and welded geogrids for houses built approximately 30 years ago. First, the characterization of the clay soil was carried out in order to understand its physical properties and determine the appropriate dosage for the production of adobe blocks. Subsequently, these were used in the construction of 12 walls, which were compared using the diagonal compression test to determine the strength of each one. The results show that the welded mesh exhibits better stress behavior with an average of 1.55 kg/cm2 compared to the other two mentioned reinforcement methods, which presented a result below the average of 1.47 kg/cm2. Additionally, the unreinforced adobe pattern walls obtained an average of 0.19 kg/cm2 falling below the minimum values established in the Technical Standard E080, which sets a minimum resistance of 0.25 kg/cm2. Concluding that the welded mesh is the optimal technique for reinforcing adobe houses in the locality of Yanamarca-Peru.
