Conejo A.L.G.R.; Bazán J.A.; Velasquez M.R.B.; Marquina E.Z. · Revista de Ciencias Sociales (2023) · DOI: 10.31876/rcs.v29i2.39988

Resumen

Latin American universities have faced a set of reforms and changes in recent years in order to approach the improvement of their standards in order to position themselves in the international context. The objective of the article is to analyze the term university reform, taking into account the current law of universities in Peru and the subsequent amending law promulgated, which restores the University Autonomy to know the vision about the term regarding its use in said laws. The type of research is descriptive, transactional and field. Responses from 8 convenience interviews carried out with experts who were directors, teachers, researchers and/or rectors of some public and private universities in Peru are shown; therefore, they know about the subject. It is concluded that the term of university reform has been discussed based on the elements that have justified it, however, there is no evidence that the results of the reform have been positive in improving university quality in Peru, especially due to the little published research on the matter. Discussions on the subject must continue to guarantee academic development in the country’s universities, claiming institutional strength through the full exercise of their autonomy
