Reduction of Lean Waste in a Retail Pharmaceutical Warehouse Using ABC and 5S Tools

Resumen

The research addresses the reduction of Lean waste - specifically unnecessary movements and defects in warehouses - through the design, implementation, and evaluation of the ABC and 5S tools, thus improving inbound logistics processes and order management in a company within the retail sector. After a validation period, it was observed that the implementation of these tools reduced Lean waste losses from 18% to 12% compared to 2023. The model demonstrates that the combined management of ABC and 5S methods can have a positive impact on warehouse operations. However, its application is primarily recommended for companies with high inventory turnover and manual storage processes.
