Resumen
This study addresses gender equity by promoting interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in early education. The objective was to evaluate the impact of a gender-focused web-based system on the STEM interest of 33 girls in the 5th and 6th grades of primary school in Piura, Peru. The quantitative, pre-experimental (O1 X O2) study used instruments validated through Confirmatory Factor Analysis. Given the non-normality of the data, hypothesis testing was performed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test for related samples. After four weeks of intervention, the results were highly significant (p < 0.05) in the dimensions of Mathematics, Science, and Future Intention (median increased from 2.00 to 3.00, with effect sizes r = 0.34–0.54). It is concluded that the “STEM Girls” web system constitutes a promising strategy to stimulate early interest in girls, contributing to the goals of gender equality in the educational context.
