Reducing garment manufacturing errors in a textile company using TPM and SCQM tools

Gomez A.; Peceros Y.; Pozo J.C. · Congreso Internacional de Innovacion y Tendencias en Ingenieria, CONIITI (2025) · DOI: 10.1109/coniiti68560.2025.11366194

Resumen

The research proposes an improvement in the garment production cycle at Casa Cross to reduce the percentage of defective products, which currently reaches 21.61%. This issue leads to high reprocessing costs and negatively impacts overall production efficiency. The proposed solution involves the application of supply chain tools and technological methodologies, such as preventive maintenance and quality control using artificial intelligence and machine learning. These tools help optimize both material flow and machinery usage. The project also aims to significantly improve the quality of the final products. The most relevant results show a substantial reduction in the defect rate and maintenance costs, with a positive impact on production efficiency. Validation was carried out by comparing the failure rate with successful cases in the textile industry, demonstrating that reducing the defect rate to 5% is indeed achievable. In conclusion, the research addressed the technical gap, and the proposed solutions are applicable to other scenarios within the textile sector, particularly in SMEs seeking to optimize their production processes through Industry 4.0 technologies.
