Resumen
This study focuses on analyzing the loading and hauling processes at the “El Toro” mine, operated by Summa Gold Corporation, as a critical problem of truck waiting times has been identified, leading to increased operational costs. A total of 12.22 hours are lost daily, amounting to a waiting cost of $562.58 per day. The main objective of the study is to develop a solution to reduce waiting times by applying Float Estimation software, thereby optimizing operational costs. Specific objectives include analyzing current information, evaluating parameters influencing waiting times, using Float Estimation to optimize truck cycles, simulating waiting times in MS Excel, and comparing results with the current situation at the mine. The research approach is quantitative, using measurable data and mathematical calculations. The scope is correlational and pre-experimental, focusing on manipulating operational costs to reduce waiting times. Data collection will be conducted through analyzing operational time records and equipment performance, utilizing digital tools such as Microsoft Excel, Geocatmin, and Float Estimation. By implementing the proposed strategy, Scenario 3 projects a potential saving of 70% in daily waiting costs, an 8% reduction in annualized costs, and improvements of 6 - 8% in unit and total loading and hauling costs compared to the current scenario.
