Resumen
This descriptive-propositional, quantitatively oriented applied study evaluated whether a synergistic deployment of FMEA, QFD, Six Sigma, and the DMAIC cycle could lower operating costs in a private clinic in Trujillo (Peru). Documentary analysis and non-participant observation identified avoidable losses amounting to PEN 37 201.90, stemming mainly from insufficient preventive maintenance and limited technical proficiency. The baseline process capability revealed a Cp = 0.76, corresponding to roughly 3.8 DPMO. A 1 000-run Monte Carlo simulation projected a mean saving of PEN 2 578.19 (95 % CI = 2 149.59 – 3 006.80) and indicated that 64.9 % of the simulated scenarios would deliver a positive financial balance, whereas 35.1 % could still generate losses. Under optimistic deterministic assumptions, the combined tools might yield cumulative savings of up to PEN 31 370 against an implementation cost of PEN 44 800. Overall, the simulated evidence suggests that integrating FMEA, QFD, Six Sigma, and DMAIC could simultaneously mitigate root-cause inefficiencies, enhance process capability, and achieve a favourable economic outcome for roughly two-thirds of the evaluated scenarios—provided that a robust statistical-process-control scheme is sustained to preserve the improvements.
