Resumen
Professional exhaustion (burnout syndrome) is a significant problem affecting healthcare workers. In this context, psychological capital emerges as a fundamental resource for coping with demanding work requirements and protecting workers' well-being. The study determined the relationship between psychological capital and professional exhaustion among Peruvian healthcare workers. A quantitative approach, a non-experimental cross-sectional design, and a correlational scope were adopted. Stratified probability sampling was used to select 103 healthcare workers, who were administered the Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ-12) and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Inferential analysis showed a significant inverse correlation between the two constructs, indicating that higher levels of psychological capital are associated with lower levels of professional burnout. This finding confirms the protective role of psychological capital against job burnout and underscores the need to develop organizational strategies to strengthen healthcare personnel's positive psychological resources.
