Resumen
According to SUTRAN, in the period of 2022, there were 31845 traffic accidents due to speeding on national and departmental highways in Peru. This work develops a speed alert prototype for the prevention of road accidents. For the prototype was used a V2 camera, Raspberry Pi 4 with 4gb of RAM, then for the vehicle classification system was used YOLOv7, which was trained through the neural network with the COCO base, then it was added to the Python libraries where the programming was performed and the PyQT library was linked to track the vehicle and calculate the speed of the vehicles. Finally, the classification of each vehicle with its respective speed traveling on the road was obtained, which issues an alarm for vehicles that exceed the speed allowed by traffic and has an HMI screen that can be manipulated manually to update the speed limits on flat roads, curved roads, which will issue an alarm signal on the HMI screen in case the speed traveling is higher than allowed by the traffic regulations, thus reducing the rate of accidents due to speeding.
