Resumen
This paper presents a proposal aimed at improving the service level in the delivery of floating barges made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) at the Peruvian company SIGECO S.A.C., a project-based manufacturing company. The analysis identified the main obstacle as the poor performance of the OTIF (On Time In Full) indicator, caused by the lack of planning for distribution routes, insufficient logistics oversight, shortages of materials for final assembly, and delays in passing safety inspections. To address these challenges, the adoption of three technological tools aligned with Industry 4.0 principles is proposed: an IoT-enhanced Transportation Management System (TMS), the DDMRP methodology for materials planning, and the use of Digital Twins. The feasibility of the proposal was assessed through a quantitative analysis, the development of a technical design, and a review of its economic impact. The results showed improvements in the traceability of logistics operations, a reduction in assembly times, greater availability of input, and an increase in the level of customer service. In conclusion, the technical gap identified was mitigated, and the proposed solution demonstrates potential for replication in other industrial contexts with similar challenges in managing complex deliveries.
