Resumen
There are chemical substances on planet Earth that result from intentional, artificial or synthetic chemical processes. Reducing their effects on ecosystems and human health is an important challenge for today’s society, especially in Latin America. The objective of this study was to review the importance of promoting education about chemical substances and their impact on the environment and human health. This research is based on a systematic review of scientific literature associated with education in the management of chemical substances in Latin America, between the years 2019 and 2024. Three main topics were considered: Chemical substances education, chemical substances and environment, and determinants of human health. From the research results, it is inferred that it is necessary to raise, through education, the levels of social awareness for people to use chemical substances in a pertinent, efficient and effective way.
