Resumen
This study evaluated the feasibility of producing an organic fertilizer through mixed lactic fermentation using pig manure and sugarcane vinasse, agro-industrial byproducts with high polluting potential. A mixture of 40% pig manure, 40% vinasse, 10% molasses, and 10% microbial consortium was used as inoculum. Four pilot tests were conducted in 30 L stainless steel bioreactors at 40 °C for 7 days. pH and lactic acid percentage were measured daily. At the end of the trials, the resulting liquid and solid fertilizer were characterized physically, chemically and microbiologically. During fermentation, a decrease in pH from 5.23 to 3.24 and an increase in lactic acidity from 0.26 to 1.31% were observed. The liquid fertilizer exhibited high levels of organic matter and essential nutrients (N, P, K), while the solid fertilizer showed values comparable to those reported in the literature. Microbiological analyses confirmed the absence of pathogens, demonstrating the product’s safety. The average production yield, calculated as the ratio of inputs to total fertilizer output, was 88.1%. The yield of the liquid fertilizer was 85.4%, and that of the solid fertilizer, 14.6%. These results demonstrate that mixed lactic fermentation is an efficient strategy for valorising livestock and industrial organic waste, generating products with agricultural value and no health risks. ©Los autores.
