Prevention means to reduce sexual harassment in university institutions

Cribilleros-Shigihara O.A.; Gamarra-Chirinos O.P.; Vergara-Vásquez A.T. · Clio. Revista de Historia, Ciencias Humanas y Pensamiento Critico. (2024) · DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.12599757

Resumen

Sexual harassment has been recognized as a serious form of violence-mostly-against women. When it is committed on university campuses, it constitutes a violation of rights, especially a threat related to the right to education and the right to receive training in a dignified manner. Sexual harassment on university campuses is concurrent, invisible and naturalized. Due to these contextualized considerations, this research based on documentary-hermeneutic methods of procedural and epistemological assessment of the social phenome-non, seeks to propose means and strategies as a contribution to minimizing sexual harassment in universities. Prevention strategies are considered from two approaches, one, mediated individually by the victim to contain the harasser and, a second approach, which is based on institutional policies that should have the mission of reconfiguring academic-teaching management by creating through the curriculum-a long term-a bioethical culture of respect towards others with the purpose of reducing the indicators of sexual harassment.
