Resumen
This research on pottery, carried out on the outskirts of the city of Iquitos in the Loreto Region, aims to analy-ze pottery, its cosmology and identity link of the Kuka-ma-Kukamiria population in the Santo Tomás Population Center, Lake Mapacocha, Río Nanay. Qualitative, descrip-tive ethnographic study uses participant observation and semi-structured interviews as research techniques and instruments. We worked with 29 kukamas with pottery knowledge, 11 interpreted the icons (between 33 and 73 years old) and semi-structured interviews were applied to 18. Participant observation was focused on 3 pottery fa-milies. It presents 11 images of ceramics and 47 icons. It is concluded that pottery is not only tangible cultural evi-dence but is also recognized as part of the ancestral know-how that reflects the worldview of the people and serves as a flag in the identity reconstruction of the kukuma-kukamiria of the CCPP Santo Tomás.
