Resumen
Introduction: This study evaluated the effect of inoculation with native arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (NAMF) on development and yield of potato and purple corn crops. Materials and methods: Two experiments were established: one with potato (Canchán variety) and the other with purple corn (Negra Tomasa variety). In each crop, 100, 500, and 1000 NAMF spores per plant were applied, along with a non-inoculated control and a chemical fertilization treatment (NPK). Treatments were arranged in three replicates under a randomized complete block design. Results: In potato, greatest vegetative growth was observed with chemical fertilization; however, highest yield was obtained with 100 NAMF spores per plant, statistically like chemical fertilization. In purple corn, leaf dry weight and chlorophyll content were higher with inoculation of 100 NAMF spores per plant, while root development was greater under chemical fertilization. Yields obtained with 500 and 1000 AMF spores per plant were statistically similar to those under chemical fertilization. Chemical fertilization reduced soil pH, whereas organic matter and available phosphorus showed higher values under this treatment. Conclusions: NAMF inoculation increased yield and improved crop development, representing a promising alternative for crop nutrition and sustainable soil fertility management.
