Policies and Advances in Intercultural Early Childhood Education in Peru: A Diagnostic Study Through a Documentary Analysis

Iraola-Real I.; Vasquez C. · RISTI - Revista Iberica de Sistemas e Tecnologias de Informacao (2024)

Resumen

The management of Peruvian intercultural early childhood education is a challenge that requires the implementation and compliance of educational policies. For this reason, this study analyzes the policies and achievements of Intercultural Early Childhood Education in Peru. This objective was achieved by applying the qualitative methodology of documentary analysis, through which five educational management documents were studied. Thus, through codification processes, it was identified that policies promote intercultural education. Then, curriculum management promotes interculturality as a cross-cutting approach from the curricular areas. Finally, the progress included the implementation of policies, the increase in the offer for the training of intercultural teachers, and the optimization of educational materials. However, it was not possible to fully adapt intercultural early childhood education because more bilingual teachers need to be trained.
