Resumen

The regeneration of tissues from wounds of different kinds such as burns, continues today to be a topic of interest and growing research when it is determined that the time it takes is essential for the health and life of the patient. The objective of this study was to evaluate the use of Persea caerulea as an alternative for wound regeneration, using Girardia festae as a biological model study under laboratory conditions. Both, the plant specie and the model flatworm were collected and taxonomically identified. Extracts of P. caerulea were prepared at 0.4%, 0.2%, 0.1% and 0% and following an experimental design of completely randomized blocks, we proceeded to evaluate its effect on seven types of fragments of G. festae, including a population of 280 fragments. The results obtained show promise to continue studies in models closer to human tissues. The 0.4% concentration of P. caerulea significantly reduced the blastema formation time to 9.6 minutes in the head fragment and its conformation to a complete individual at 131.6 hours.
