Resumen
This short chapter outlines the genealogies, tensions, and motivations shaping Ecuadorian performance art since the 1960s. It maps a constellation of artists and collectives that have used action art as critical responses to political repression, economic crises, and social inequity. Despite limited institutional support, independent spaces, festivals, and archives have sustained performance art in these contexts. The short essay positions Ecuadorian performance as embodied critique, experimental pedagogy, and collective resilience across shifting political landscapes.
