Resumen
This research study aims to analyze the perceptions, attitudes, and practices of using generative artificial intelligence (GAI) chatbots for academic purposes. A questionnaire was applied in Google Forms to 1387 undergraduate and graduate college students from Peru. The questionnaire, validated by expert judgments and statistics, generated a four-factor model: perception (benefit and disadvantage), practice, and attitude. Results show that most of surveyed students are familiar with GAI, have a personal account, and have used GAI chatbots for academic purposes. Furthermore, students are aware of the purposes, potentials, disadvantages, and benefits of using GAI chatbots. They also consider them a useful and effective learning tool and, consequently, have a positive perception and attitude towards its use for academic purposes. It is concluded that Peruvian students have a positive perception of GAI chatbots. © Este es un artículo publicado en acceso abierto bajo una licencia Creative Commons
