Resumen

Academic writing is a fundamental skill for professional and scientific development in higher education. This study analyzes the perceptions of university students in Lima regarding their academic writing processes using a descriptive cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 700 first- and second-cycle students from seven universities in Lima (two public and five private) during 2025. The Vine-Jara Academic Writing Process Perception Scale (2020) was applied, validated by exploratory factor analysis (KMO=0.919) and with high reliability (α=0.832). The results reveal moderate perceptions toward academic writing (M=3.24, SD=0.68), with significant differences between dimensions: Revision (M=3.47, SD=0.71) and planning (M=3.41, SD=0.65) obtained the highest scores, while postponing the start showed greater problems (M=2.89, SD=0.83). Factor analysis confirmed five theoretical dimensions explaining 50.21% of the variance. The findings suggest the need to implement academic literacy programs that specifically strengthen textualization and time management skills in writing. © Los autores. All rights reserved.
