Resumen

Introduction: Nowadays, the study of attachment as an emotional bond is crucial for understanding students’ adaptation to the university environment. Through interpersonal relationships, students strengthen their academic and social integration process, which influences their university trajectory and future professional life. Objective: To compare attachment levels among university students in the Peruvian Amazon in relation to their sociodemographic characteristics. Methods: A quantitative approach was used, with a non-experimental design and a descriptive-comparative cross-sectional scope. The sample consisted of 298 participants of both sexes, who were administered the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA), an instrument with adequate levels of reliability and content validity. Results: Most students showed a high level in the communication (64.1 %) and trust (63.2 %) dimensions, both considered positive aspects of attachment. In contrast, they were at a low level in the alienation dimension (48.9 %), which reflects negative attachment. Statistically significant differences were found in the alienation dimension according to gender and academic program, as well as in the communication dimension according to age group. No significant differences were observed concerning financial support. Conclusions: University students in the Peruvian Amazon exhibit adequate levels of peer attachment. However, scores vary according to gender, age, and academic program.
