Resumen
This article introduces a research study focused on passive noise control methods applied to cultural spaces in different buildings worldwide. This work identifies application criteria for architectural design based on different methods through a descriptive, qualitative, and non-experimental study, based on a scientific documentary review of research papers, relevant books, and architectural articles. Evaluation instruments were developed and applied to case studies to obtain theoretical guidelines for architectural design. Five cultural centers were studied and the following conclusions were reached: All objects used at least (3/12) architectural criteria, and at most (7/12) architectural criteria. First, the use of spaces with non-parallel walls and irregular angles was the criterion with the greatest impact (80%); second, the use of regular volumes with sloping roofs was the criterion of medium impact (60%), and third, the use of monumental spaces with double-height ceilings was (60%). This study highlights the importance of passive noise control methods when developing volumes and spaces in architectural objects with cultural functions.
