Resumen
The study addresses the low recycling rate in the PET plastic industry in Peru, which poses significant environmental challenges. Previous research highlighted the need for continuous improvement tools and circular economy methodologies to optimize recycling processes in industrial sectors. This research tackled the issue by integrating Business Process Management (BPM) and quality control sampling, tools rarely applied in this sector. The main challenge was the high waste percentage in the regeneration process and poor-quality raw materials, which directly impacted recycling efficiency. The study applied statistical sampling to improve raw material quality control and BPM to optimize process management, resulting in significant improvements. Key findings showed a 15.6% increase in recycling rate, a 22% reduction in waste generation, and a 12% improvement in raw material quality. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed tools in enhancing recycling efficiency. Academically, this research contributes to process improvement methodologies, while socioeconomically, it advances environmental sustainability and sector competitiveness. It encourages further exploration of sustainable process improvements across industries.
