Optimizing Freelance Project Management through Agile Practices: A Systematic Literature Review

Martinez-Hancco M.; La Rosa A.J.O.; Salvador-Reyes R. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2024) · DOI: 10.18687/leird2024.1.1.771

Resumen

Given the increasing trend of remote work, optimizing task flow and delivering constant value has become a crucial necessity to be a competent freelancer; however, online information on this topic is often scarce and unreliable. Therefore, this review aimed to analyze the effectiveness of Agile Practices (PA) in enhancing project management in Remote Self-employment (TIR), the most valued aspects when proposing their application in such modality. For this purpose, a systematic review without meta-analysis was conducted, starting with 154 raw records extracted from Scopus in April 2024. After implementing the PRISMA protocol and applying inclusion and exclusion criteria for filtering, 15 studies were selected. Findings revealed that the most utilized agile values and principles centered around active stakeholder interaction and adaptability to change, where the Agile Methodology (MA) Scrum was unconditionally present during the design of PA. Subsequently, improvements in communication and flexibility in task management were observed, maintaining product quality in terms of client satisfaction and compliance with specifications, with slight delays deemed acceptable. In this sense, PA have proven to be effective in the development of projects involving the participation of remote workers, so their adoption is recommended.
