Coronado Canales P.L.; Diaz Ccoto V.Z.; Carrizales Navarro J.A.; Nieves Acosta A.K.; Sampen Alquizar L.A.; Lara Quispe M.A. · International Conference on Electrical, Computer, Communications and Mechatronics Engineering, ICECCME 2025 (2025) · DOI: 10.1109/iceccme64568.2025.11277891

Resumen

The article analyzes automation technologies applied to textile manufacturing, focusing on fabric folding for back pockets on trousers. In response to growing demand and competition, the industry seeks to optimize traditionally manual processes. Automation enhances precision, reduces errors, and increases efficiency, enabling the standardization of complex tasks such as folding, ironing, and fabric positioning.Technological approaches presented include dual-arm robots, impedance control, neural networks for action prediction, and pneumatic mechanisms. Technologies like SpeedFolding and BiMaMa-Net simulate human movements and adapt to different fabric types through RGB-D image analysis. Hybrid humanrobot collaboration solutions are also explored, using real-time body tracking and force control for safe and adaptive manipulation. The article describes industrial prototypes developed in academic settings that integrate pneumatic systems, programmable logic controllers, and thermal sensors. These replicate industrial processes with high precision, addressing temperature control, working pressure, and operator ergonomics. Additionally, machine vision systems are incorporated, allowing robots to identify fabric edges and features to plan precise motion trajectories, even for nonpolygonal shapes.Overall, the article offers a comprehensive view of the state of the art in textile automation, highlighting its positive impact on product quality, operational efficiency, and sustainability. It concludes that the integration of intelligent, adaptive, and collaborative systems is key to addressing current industry challenges, especially in complex tasks such as pocket folding and ironing.
