Resumen

The present thesis project addresses the optimization problem, making use of state-of-the-art technology to find the best values, so that the evaluated columns can have the most optimal strength, the minimum total cost, and a shorter design time compared to the traditional design. The columns evaluated in this research were central columns. Thanks to the algorithm developed, it was possible to find the best values for base area, height, concrete strength and amount, assuming only the tributary area as data. In addition, the algorithm developed gives us the total cost that the column will have in a short time. As a practical example, a column with a tributary area of 42tn was analyzed, where the algorithm showed a 0.25m*0.25m column as the most optimal option, with a concrete strength of 210kg/cm2 and with 4 longitudinal bars of 5/8". All these parameters are within the stipulations of the standard, as well as its amount at 1.2% and its price of S/. 197.00. Thus, we obtained an optimal and economical design. This research is theoretical, however, with the use of the developed technology it can be easily put into practice in the future.
