Resumen
The one-flap palatoplasty is a single mono-pedicled muco-periosteal flap used to reconstruct the hard palate in patients with unilateral cleft lip and palate. There are fewer surgical incisions on the hard palate compared to the two-flap palatoplasty and this may have benefits for better mucoperiosteal flap vascularization. The key aspect when performing the one-flap palatoplasty is careful yet complete dissection of the greater palatine artery pedicle when raising the mono-pedicled flap on the greater palatal segment and ensuring minimal tension at closure. The one-flap palatoplasty has been shown to be an effective technique for primary reconstruction of hard palate clefts but its impact on postoperative outcomes is not yet known. © Springerr Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2022, corrected publication 2022.
