Resumen
Objective: The purpose of this article is to analyze the ideological and discursive implications in the representation of migrants in host societies. In this sense, it seeks to understand the causes, scope and consequences of structural and institutional ignorance of the epistemic content of migrants' representations of reality. Methodology: The methodology is based on a critical analysis of relevant literature and legislation, as well as on the review of concepts such as "epistemic injustice" and epistemic capital. The relationship between the recognition of migrants' epistemic content and their ability to make their systems of representation of reality known is examined. Results: The importance of questioning hegemonic categories and value judgments that devalue the migrant is highlighted. In addition, it is pointed out that the construction of otherness and the marginalization of the migrant are based on an ideological matrix imposed by the State. Finally, it is argued that these ideological constructions are the result of interests of power and domination. Contributions: The article highlights the need to study the discursive articulation that determines the representations of reality. It questions the ideological praxis that devalues the migrant and advocates an approach that denounces these constructions and promotes a committed and fair epistemology. It invites to review the relationship between the profit obtained from the migrant and the suppression of his epistemic relevance, as well as to reflect on the ideological prerogatives of hegemonic groups.
