Numerical study of air flow through an injector using CFD techniques

Rojas F.J.; Anicama V.; De La Cruz C.; Cataño M.; Loayza I. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2021) · DOI: 10.18687/laccei2021.1.1.31

Resumen

The fluid-dynamic behavior of the air flow through the selected injector model 47004 AMF was validated at various conditions to be used as a potato selection system. The injector was designed and manufactured by the Nex Flow company and acquired for this study to meet the necessary requirements for the aforementioned application. The numerical analysis was developed with the commercial software Ansys Workbench 2020 R1 based on the finite volume technique to solve the equations of continuity, conservation of moment, etc. The following were considered: (i) fluid with air with constant density, (ii) stable state, (iii) SST (Shear Stress Transport) turbulence model. The simulation considers an inflow at different flow rates to obtain a trend curve, an operating temperature of 25 ° C and an atmospheric pressure of 1 atm. The results show a similar trend with the results obtained by the experimental tests, in addition to similarity with the supplier's tables, in which we find tables that help us to demonstrate the behavior of the injector. In addition, it is possible to compare the diameter of the flow core at the outlet of the injector, but at different distances, evidencing a similar behavior to that given in the supplier's graphs. It is concluded that the selected injector meets the requirements of the potato selection project.
