Resumen
The tsunami inundation hazard zones generated by the probable occurrence of a large magnitude earthquake are defined, estimating the arrival times, depth levels and maximum inundation velocities in the district of Chorrillos, and determining the map of inundation zones. For this purpose, modeling and numerical simulations of the tsunami generated by an earthquake of magnitude M8.5, whose epicenter was located 60 km west of the district of Chorrillos, in the subduction zone and due to the interaction of the Nazca plates, were carried out. The two-dimensional numerical model TUNAMI-N2 was applied to obtain information on maximum wave heights of 8 to 10 m for the coastal zone of the district of Chorrillos. The extension of the inundated areas would be greater than 1 km without exceeding 10 meters in depth. The tsunami hazard due to the depth of inundation is high (> 2 m) along the entire coastline, which would develop with water flow velocities greater than 1.5 m/s, which means high levels of danger to human lives, as well as damage to existing infrastructure due to erosion and the impact of waves.
