Resumen
Satellite missions are exposed to a variety of space weather phenomena that help or hurt their lifespan. One of them is the Plasmaspheric Hiss (PH), which benefits the satellites that orbit in the Radiation Belts, since they clean the energetic particles. On the other hand, the South Atlantic Magnetic Anomaly (SAMA) damages the missions that pass through its region due to the agglomeration of high-energy particles. Both phenomena evolves with solar activity, the geomagnetic storm being the most critical, producing the disappearance of the PH and the increase of the particle flux in SAMA. The main objective of this proposal is to monitor the disappearance of the PH and the weakening of the geomagnetic field in the SAMA region, due to geomagnetic storms caused by interplanetary shocks, using two CubeSats: CHASQUI A and B. The first 3U CubeSat to study the PH phenomenon, CHASQUI-A, has a geosynchronous transfer orbit (perigee altitude ∼185 km, apogee altitude ∼35000 km, inclination ∼18°, period ∼10.26 h). It has a hybrid magnetometer, bandwidth, from 100 to 2000 Hz, that allows us to obtain the 3 components of the geomagnetic field to determine the Power Spectral Density (PSD) in a spectrogram. The second 1U CubeSat to study the SAMA region, CHASQUI-B, has a sun-synchronous orbit (perigee altitude ∼533 km, apogee altitude ∼565 km, inclination ∼97.5°, period 1.59 h and local time of the ascending node (LTAN) de 13:41 h). It has a 3-axis Fluxgate Magnetometer, which measures the 3 components of the geomagnetic field with a resolution of 15 nT and a field range of +/- 63 mT, to produce a map of the Total Intensity of the Geomagnetic Field at an altitude of 560 km over the intertropical zone. Similarly. Both CubeSats have another payload: 3 RM3100 ICs (fluxgate magnetometers) with a resolution of 13 nT and a field range of +/- 800 µT. In addition, simulations were done to contrast instruments and missions exposed to the space environment with their respective space weather events. Copyright
