Multivariate analysis of water risk and the demand for water for human consumption, Santiago de Chuco - La Libertad

Jalliny Valverde-Ravelo K.; Ilich Llaque Fernández G.; Solís Muñoz H. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2025) · DOI: 10.18687/laccei2025.1.1.927

Resumen

Water risk is a fact that is continuously growing, affecting people's quality of life, added to the increase in water demand due to the exponential growth of the population. In order to determine the results of the multivariate analysis between water risk and water demand for human consumption in the urban population of the district of Santiago de Chuco, the following objectives were formulated: a) to calculate water demand for human consumption; b) to identify the main components of water risk and water demand factors; c) to propose a management strategy for the headwaters that guarantees sustainable access to water resources for human consumption. For the study, the sample consisted of records of precipitation, temperature, evapotranspiration and annual water demand between 1981 and 2016. A correlational analysis was performed and SPSS, Excel, RStudio and ArcGIS pro software were used. The results showed a significant inverse correlation between water demand and evapotranspiration of -0.722, and three principal components were identified. In conclusion, it was identified that water risk factors do relate to water demand.
