Resumen
Multiferroic magnetoelectric materials are the ones in which there is a coexistence of at least two ferroic orders, for instance, ferroelectric, magnetic ordering, or ferroelastic. Multiferroic materials have attracted considerable attention, increasing the number of research activities for their scientific interest and significant technological promise as possible candidates for a wide variety of novel multifunctional devices. Although magnetoelectric (ME) coupling between electric and magnetic orders at room temperature remains difficult to achieve, challenging tasks have been adopted to maximize the ME through several mechanisms, such as theoretical models, experimental techniques, and simulations. Such a mechanism is an interesting and viable option to maximize the ME and better understand and tailor materials toward applications. In this context, this chapter discusses these bulk and structured magnetoelectric composites, both experimental and theoretical. Besides, a brief presentation on the factors influencing the ME coupling response, fabrication processes, ME measurement techniques, and magnetoelectric composite ceramics applications. The review concludes with an outlook on the exciting future possibilities and scientific challenges in multiferroic magnetoelectric composites.
