Resumen
Effective maintenance management in urban transportation systems, such as Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) fleets, relies on selecting appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPls) to monitor performance and align with organizational objectives. This study proposes a Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) framework to select maintenance KPls for a BRT fleet in Lima, Peru, addressing the region's challenges of high operational costs and reactive maintenance practices. Using the ELECTRE I method, supplemented by the Simos procedure for criteria weighting, 20 candidate KPls were evaluated based on five criteria: quality of maintenance, alignment with objectives, decision-making influence, ease of comprehension, and stakeholder engagement. The methodology, inspired by aerospace material selection techniques, incorporates expert input and validation to ensure practical applicability. Results identify six critical KPls, including reliability, availability, and corrective maintenance cost percentage, which enhance proactive maintenance strategies. This approach provides a replicable, mathematically robust framework for transportation maintenance management, adaptable to diverse operational contexts.
