More Effective Strategies for Cleaner Production in the Industrial Sector: A Systematic Review

Leon Castro R.D.C.; Alva Layza M.A.; Calixtro Soto K.E.; Huerta Alonso V.J.; Pimentel Apaico L.J.; Sanchez Huamani C. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2025) · DOI: 10.18687/leird2025.1.1.594

Resumen

Industrial pollution represents a serious social and environmental problem worldwide, contributing to global warming and the degradation of ecosystems. In this context, achieving carbon neutrality has become a global priority. In 2023, Peru recorded 210.4 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, equivalent to 0.42% of the global total, mainly greenhouse gases. In response to this problem, Cleaner Production (CP) has emerged as an effective strategy for promoting sustainability, as it implements preventive measures that optimise resources, processes and technologies, reduce waste and encourage innovation in the supply chain. This study, developed through a systematic review of academic literature published between 2020 and 2024 in the Scopus database, selected 50 relevant articles based on quality criteria (Q1 and Q2) and applied bibliometric analysis tools such as VOSviewer and Bibliometrix. The results show that LMP is applied in key sectors such as manufacturing, energy, textiles, technology and economics, with a sustained increase in scientific output on the subject. Likewise, applied cases demonstrate its effectiveness: in Bangladesh, the integration of the Pollution Load Index (PLI) and ecoefficiency models enabled the textile industry to increase its economic efficiency by 27.6%; while in China, the application of data-driven strategies in ceramic companies significantly reduced energy costs and emissions. These findings show that PML combines environmental and economic benefits, although it faces technical and financial constraints in less developed sectors. © LEIRD 2025.All rights reserved.
