Resumen
This article explores marriage practices between harakbut Indigenous people and mestizo in the context of gold mining in the Madre de Dios region of Peru. Drawing on ethnographic literature and fieldwork data, we examine the preference for mestizo spouses, its implications of children’s filiations and the resulting social transformations. The study adopts the perspective of the harakbut themselves as a starting point, aiming to address the ongoing changes in their kinship system from the standpoint of everyday life.
